She Got Game® Founder Tandaleya Wilder Celebrates More Than 20 Years of Women’s Sports Coverage
MIAMI, FL — Long before women’s sports commanded the attention, investment and media coverage it receives today, award-winning journalist Tandaleya Wilder was creating a platform dedicated to telling the stories of women athletes.
Wilder launched She Got Game®: A Celebration of Women in Sports in 2001 as a pioneering women’s sports radio program focused on reporting, interviews and commentary about women athletes and the issues shaping women’s sports.
The program grew from its public radio roots and was heard nationally, helping establish Wilder as a distinctive voice in women’s sports journalism at a time when dedicated coverage of female athletes remained limited.
Over the years, She Got Game® featured interviews and conversations with athletes and sports figures including Serena and Venus Williams, Billie Jean King, Mary Lou Retton, Mia Hamm, Dorothy Hamill and others.
Wilder’s work in journalism extends well beyond She Got Game®. An award-winning public radio journalist and longtime NPR contributor, she has reported and provided sports analysis for national programs and newscasts and has covered major sporting events, including the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.
Her career has also included leadership in journalism and media training. Wilder previously served as News Director for WLRN/Miami Herald Radio and helped co-found NPR’s Next Generation Radio training and mentoring program.
Her work has earned recognition including a Gracie Award, induction into the Temple University Communications Hall of Fame, and honors from organizations recognizing her contributions to journalism, communications and women’s sports.

More than two decades after its launch, She Got Game® continues as an independent women’s sports media platform, featuring sports news, commentary and the She Got Game Sports Minute.
The platform covers the athletes, leagues, milestones and issues shaping women’s sports while continuing the mission Wilder established more than 20 years ago: providing consistent, credible coverage of women athletes.
