Fort Lauderdale, FL — March 1, 2024 — Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Intracoastal Waterway, the 2024 Street Art Regatta (StAR) produced by Grace Arts Center, a South Florida Non Profit Arts Advocacy Organization, promises an unprecedented celebration of athleticism of youth sailing and coastal parks. This year, StAR proudly announces its largest gathering of sailing teams to date, accompanied by a stunning array of painted sails, quadrupling the artistic fervor of previous editions.
What — Prepare for a Spectacle: The 2024 Street Art Regatta (StAR) will Showcase Record-Breaking Youth Participation and a dazzling array of painted sails, featuring 50 Designs by local and national artists.
When — April 11, 2024 5:30–7 PM — the interactive art exhibit of painted sails is for one hour between approximately 5:45–6:45 PM.
Where — NEW LOCATION! — on the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale between the newly renovated Coral Ridge Yacht Club and Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. Deep water access provides a much more up-close and personal viewing of the details of the painted sails from both sides of the canal. The General public can join in the free activities by entering the Hugh Taylor Birch State Park off East Sunrise Blvd. and driving around the park to the westernmost section along the Intracoastal Waterway.
Who — StAR is a collaboration of Coral Ridge Yacht Club Sailing & Watersports Foundation, Lauderdale Yacht Club Sailing Foundation, City of Fort Lauderdale, Quantum Sailing International, Grace Arts Center Inc. with the 2024 artists coordinated by Swamp Space Gallery in Miami’s Design District. Artists featured in StAR 2024 include: Lulu Sanchez, Nice and Easy, Brian Butler, Ivan Roque.Sponsorship is provided in part by Florida Division of Arts and Culture, Broward County Cultural Division and the City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation.
Register: In order to prepare for this free public event, please register to attend the Street Art Regatta using the Grace Arts website where you’ll also become part of our mailing list to enjoy other similar free art activities and events that occur year round.At Birch State Park guests can bring blankets, chairs and picnic along the grassy area near the sea wall to enjoy the 1 hour interactive art exhibition on the water. A small fee to enter the park is required which helps to maintain the parks’ many amenities.After the event, park guests can enjoy the restaurant in the park situated along the ocean all within a short drive.
